The software says the drive is not encrypted.
While HPCSM is installed, I went through their little setup wizard - Do do so you have to have a Windows password, so I created one. I used Revo to uninstall HPDE since the available versions of HPCSM were newer and the two apps seemed not to recognize each other correctly. At the outset of this project, those were two separate apps with dependencies between them to remove the other (HPDE can only be removed if running 8.x + of HPCSM HPCSM can only be removed if HPDE is gone. It seems HP Drive Encryption (HPDE) has moved to within HP Client Security Manager (HPCSM). Through the weekend I tried everything I can think of and find online.
The machine came to me without a password. I guess I should provide more detail, plus I'll add what I tried and learned through the weekend.įirst, it's a client machine, so I don't have anything but the ability to recommend practices.
